Participation only by enrolment, at €8 pp. (exhibition, programme, buffet); pay on the spot. FREESTATE OFF
MATCHBOX ON TOUR 27/08 – 11/09
Freestate is the last stop for Matchbox on Tour. This mobile exhibition space has been motoring around the country since April. You can follow its complete route at www.matchboxontour2011.blogspot.com. In each province, KUNSTWERK[t] and the curator Pieter Vermeulen have brought together two artists. One half of each pair has Western roots and the other grew up in a non-Western culture. In Ostend they will be the Congolese film-maker Guy Kabeya Muya (+ artist to be confirmed). What are their artistic views on diversity, hospitality, and the tensions between art and society? How does the location influence the work they are creating exclusively for this Matchbox?
Matchbox on Tour is organised by KUNSTWERK[t], ZebrArt, Centrum voor Beeldexpressie en Creatief Schrijven, and receives support from Vrijstaat O.
It will be at Freestate from Saturday 27/8 until Sunday 11/9 during the normal opening times.
